Privacy Policy

EchoLines is made by TONDA K.K. ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the EchoLines app for iPhone and iPad.

The short version

We do not collect, store or share any personal data. EchoLines has no account, no server of its own, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

Processing on your device

• Speech recognition and translation use Apple's on-device frameworks. Your audio, the subtitles and the translations are processed and stored only on your device.
• Speech models and translation languages are downloaded and managed by iOS / iPadOS. Those downloads are covered by Apple's privacy policy.
• Your library, playback positions, saved sentences and settings are stored in the app on your device. They are included in your device backups like other app data, and deleted when you delete the app.

Network requests the app makes

EchoLines connects to the internet only to do what you ask:

• Podcast search and recommendations. Search terms and your region are sent to Apple's public podcast directory (iTunes Search API and Apple's podcast charts) to return results.
• Podcast feeds and episodes. Feeds, artwork, transcripts and episode audio are downloaded directly from the servers of the podcasts you subscribe to. As with any download, those servers can see your IP address; their own privacy policies apply.

None of these requests goes to us, and none includes an identifier for you.

Wi-Fi Transfer

Wi-Fi Transfer lets a computer on the same Wi-Fi network upload or download audio. It runs a small web server on your device only while the Wi-Fi Transfer screen is open, protected by a 6-digit access code. Files go directly between your computer and your device and never pass through the internet. iOS asks for local network permission for this feature.

Notifications

If you turn on new-episode notifications for a show, EchoLines checks that show's feed in the background and shows a local notification. No push service or server is involved.

Children

EchoLines does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
